The Virginia State Inspection Process at Advanced Automotive
Initial Check-In:
Upon arrival, our friendly staff will greet you and guide you through the check-in process. All emissions inspection and safety inspection tests are offered on a walk-in basis only since Virginia doesn’t allow individuals to schedule appointments for these services.
Safety Inspection:
- Brakes: We inspect the condition and functionality of your braking system.
- Lights: All exterior lights, including headlights, taillights, and signal lights, are checked.
- Tires: We assess tire wear, tread depth, and overall condition.
- Steering and Suspension: We ensure your vehicle’s steering and suspension systems are in good working order.
- Exhaust System: We check for leaks and damages that could affect performance.
Emissions Inspection:
- Exhaust Analysis: We measure the pollutants emitted by your vehicle.
- OBD Check: We scan your vehicle’s onboard diagnostic system for emission-related issues.
- Visual Inspection: We look for any visible signs of tampering or malfunction in the emissions control system.
Results and Recommendations:
Once your vehicle is inspected, we will provide a detailed report of the results. If your vehicle passes, we’ll provide you with an inspection sticker for your windshield. If any issues are found, our technicians will explain the necessary repairs and offer solutions. Sometimes minor repairs can be fixed same day, allowing you to re-take the test.
